SCK Health Announces Retirement of Dr. Kamran Shahzada
SCK Health would like to announce the retirement of long-term provider, Dr. Kamran Shahzada. After over 32 years of service to the community of Arkansas City, Dr. Shahzada informed the SCK Health administration of his plans to retire at the end of April. SCK Health expresses deep gratitude to Dr. Shahzada for his dedicated service to the community and wishes him all the best in his retirement.
Whitney Gilliland, Chief Clinical Officer at SCK Health, saw Dr. Shahzada as the heartbeat of patient care in Ark City. “His compassion, desire to help others, and loyalty will be missed by all.” she said, “While I’m excited for him to enjoy his time with family, I know I’m not alone in saying it’s going to be hard to see him go. I thank Dr. Shahzada for everything he has done for his patients, clinic, hospital, and community.”
Dr. Shahzada truly cared for his patients, and the relationships he has built with them over the years. With news of his retirement, he has requested we share the following letter he wrote to the patients he has served over the past few decades.
"Dear Patients, After 32 years of practicing medicine, I am announcing my retirement as of April 30, 2024. It is with very mixed emotions that this decision is being made. It may be earlier than many of you expected, but several personal factors came together over the past year to make this the right time. There is no doubt that I will miss doing what I have enjoyed doing for so many years, however, I know it is time for me now to step back. It has been my absolute privilege to be a part of your lives for over 32 years. You have all impacted my life in more ways than you will ever know. I will always be humbled and appreciative that you have allowed me to be a part of your life’s journey, and you have been part of mine. It was a unique opportunity and a gift, thank you. I am confident that in leaving, you will be in excellent hands with the doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants at SCK Health. I hope that it will be a seamless transition, and I know you will be well taken care of. My plans going forward are a bit open ended at this point, but if the next chapter of my life is half as rewarding as my time spent with all of you, I will be one lucky person. Please accept my thanks and appreciation. I wish you all the best, Dr. Kamran Shahzada, M.D."
If you are a patient of Dr. Shahzada, you will receive a letter in the mail detailing his retirement and a list of provider options within the SCK Health system. Although we understand that this news may be disappointing to some, we are confident in the ability of our staff to continue providing exceptional care to our patients. In honor of Dr. Shahzada’s retirement, SCK Health invites the public to a celebration in the SCK Health foyer at 2PM on April 24th. SCK Health looks forward to coming together as a community to celebrate Dr. Shahzada’s remarkable career as he embarks on a new chapter in his life.
