Arkansas City, KS – South Central Kansas Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of a lift chair to our facility. This chair features a powered lifting mechanism that pushes the entire chair up from its base to help the user obtain a standing position. Our OPS department offers a variety of services to the public including wound care, IV therapy, specialized injections, and much more.  This department first opened in 2008 and was the brain child of Kathy Avery LPN, Tammy Lynn RN and Rebecca Hewitt RN.

For the last 9 years our OPS department has been staffed by the same two dedicated employees, Tammy Lynn RN and Jeanette Haney RN.  These two employees care deeply for this department and their patients. They are very grateful for this new addition.

“This will make it easier on our patients, and is also a safety factor for our department. This has been on our wish list for quite a few years. ” said Jeanette Haney RN.

“Our patients love this chair! It’s so comfy, a lot of them don’t want to get out of it. It has really helped not only our patients but also our staff. With the help of this chair we don’t have to go get additional help to move patients. It makes assisting patients easier and safer”. said Tammy Lynn RN.

“We really like to be able to get the hospital what they need.” says Jo Ann Baker, Auxiliary President. “It really is a beautiful chair”

At SCKMC we strive to make our patients visit as comfortable as possible, and we are very grateful for the donation of this chair. Thank you to all that made this possible.
