Through a partnership with Hospital Housekeeping Services, our Housekeeping Department strives to make your visit a safe and pleasant one. We work hard making sure patients and employees have a safe, clean and healthy environment. We make sure germs are not being passed from patient to visitor or from visitor to patient.
Housekeeping
South Central Kansas Medical Center’s Housekeeping Department consists of a dedicated and conscientious team responsible for all areas of the hospital and Outpatient Services Building.
The hospital housekeeping department has as its basic function of maintaining the highest order of aseptic cleanliness throughout the entire facility. We are staffed seven days a week.
Laundry
Through a partnership with Hospital Housekeeping Services, the Laundry Department is a vital behind the scenes department making certain linens are stain and germ free for our patients. South Central Kansas Medical Center takes pride in the fact that they provide an on-site laundry service for its patients and residents.
At a time where many small hospitals have moved towards outside vendors to provide laundry service, at South Central Kansas Medical Center this service is seen as a continuation of the care that makes your stay special. The laundry department washes linen for all departments in the Hospital, affiliated Doctor’s offices of SCKMC, and the Arkansas City EMS.
The Laundry department washes and processes an average of 250,000 pounds of linen a year.
Nutritional Services
Perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions of hospital care is that the food has to taste bad. Through a partnership with Hospital Housekeeping Services, our dietary staff strives to provide both variety and quality with their meals. Patients select meals from a menu of options and orders are taken in person by the dietary hostess. Meals are tailored to maintain our patient’s individual restrictions, as determined by our licensed dietitian. In addition to providing meals for our patients, dietary also supplies meals for our physicians, staff, visitors, and caters for special occasions. In total the department provides more than 88,000 meals each year.
