Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM, every 3rd week of call.
Salary Range: $58,000 – $75,000

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Responsible for the administration, direction, security, and management of the building, grounds, utilities, equipment and plant equipment/machinery.; This includes SCK Health Rural Health Clinics.
  2. Supervises and coordinates construction, renovation and repairs of the building structures, walls, floors, ceilings, cabinets and furniture by contractors and maintenance personnel. Responsible for ensuring hospital floor cleanliness and maintenance.
  3. Maintains current knowledge base of all federal and state regulations governing the plant maintenance and hospital facility. Educates staff to comply with state and federal regulations. Maintains compliance with all laws and regulations as applicable.
  4. Prepares annual budget and maintains compliance with budgetary guidelines as established for the year. Projects future budgetary plant maintenance and informs administration of possible future expenses.
  5. Holds the facility role of Safety Officer. Participates in the Safety and Worker’s Compensation Committees and ensures the facility is safe. Corrects any safety hazards as they appear and presents ongoing problems with potential solutions to senior management
  6. Oversee/present the Safety Orientation program for new hires and existing staff according to established policies and standards, both internal and external.
    • Achieve/maintain expert status regarding all state and federal standards on safety education and policies. Recommend program changes as needed to maintain compliance with same.
    • Plan/implement /evaluate Emergency Preparedness Program at least semi-annually and recommend program changes as needed.
    • Plan/implement/evaluate at least two disaster drills per year.
    • Plan/implement/evaluate no less than 12 fire drills per year.
    • Plan/implement /activate emergency exercises as required.
    • Standby/respond if called for all safety emergencies.
    • Assist in development/implementation of any safety matters that are not listed above.
  1. Ensures the facility utilizes resources and materials efficiently and effectively.
  2. Manages, directs, and trains maintenance department staff.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • License: Valid Kansas drivers license with no driving stipulations.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Previous maintenance supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Must have working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance. Knowledge of electrical, building codes, and plumbing. Working knowledge of safety codes, OSHA, EPA, State Health Regulations, hazardous materials and emergency preparedness.

Working Conditions:

Will be required to work in and out of the department and during various hours. Employee will be required to communicate effectively with a diverse group of employee and public on a regular basis. Work will require attention to detail, creativity and follow through. Employee must be able to function independently and with little supervision. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and bio-hazardous waste.
