Grace Shows Up in the Most Amazing Ways
Sometimes the most extraordinary moments arrive when we least expect them. On the evening of June 1, 2026, what began as a routine night at SCK Health turned into a remarkable reminder of faith, community, and the power of helping others.
Our House Supervisor received a call that an individual had arrived at the hospital check-in desk claiming he was traveling across the country giving money to people in need. Naturally, there was some skepticism. Unsure of what to expect, our House Supervisor went to the parking lot to meet the gentleman and learn more about his story.
What he discovered was a story of faith, purpose, and compassion.
The visitor was part of Gobundance, an organization currently undertaking a mission known as The Ride—a 2,000-mile cycling journey from Mexico to Canada designed to spotlight people and communities who are often overlooked while delivering direct, life-changing support to those who need it most.
The cyclist explained that he had spent the day riding from Oklahoma City to Arkansas City. Along the journey, he prayed for guidance—asking God when he should stop and where he should go next. Those prayers led him to Arkansas City. After arriving and checking into a local hotel, he continued to pray and felt led to visit SCK Health.
Once there, he asked a simple question: “Do you know anyone who could use a helping hand?”
Without hesitation, our House Supervisor thought of two SCK Health team members who had recently been facing significant medical and personal challenges. These individuals were more than coworkers—they were family.
He shared their stories with the Gobundance team member, who immediately asked if they would be willing to come speak with him. Phone calls were made, and within an hour, both team members arrived at the hospital. Soon after, several additional members of the Gobundance team joined the gathering.
What followed was an evening filled with heartfelt conversations, inspiring stories, tears, prayers, encouragement, and compassion. The Gobundance team listened intently, learned about the challenges these individuals had been facing, and shared the purpose behind The Ride and its mission to impact lives across North America. By the end of the evening, lives had been touched, burdens had been lightened, and hope had been renewed.
Moments like these remind us that community, kindness, and faith often arrive in unexpected ways. Sometimes grace appears in the form of a stranger who simply follows where God is leading.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gobundance and The Ride team for the care, generosity, and encouragement they shared with members of our SCK Health family. Your visit left a lasting impact not only on the staff members you blessed, but on our entire organization and community.
At SCK Health, our team members are more than coworkers—they are family. Seeing others recognize, support, and uplift members of that family was a beautiful reminder of the goodness that exists in our world.
We wish the Gobundance team safe travels as they continue their journey from Mexico to Canada, bringing hope and healing to communities along the way. As you continue your journey northward, know that a small town in Kansas is cheering you on.
